REMEDY
Remedy is a damn impressive debut and I think it has A LOT of potential to get some major radio airplay. I admit to being a bit of a sucker
for melodic, GOO GOO DOLLS-ish of songwriting...and hey, let's face it, John Rzeznik can pen a damn fine tune.
STRANGE REMEDY have produced a well-written, hook-driven disc with plenty of memorable choruses and top notch production. The members, who include Luke Brown on vocals/guitar, Rick Wilson - drums, Quinton Gibson - Guitar, Tracy Ferrie - Bass, all play with more strength and polish than their contemporaries and their songwriting is amazing.
Many bands will rely on melodrama to add emotion to their music (ahem...CREED), but not Strange Remedy. Luke Brown has a very good voice... not overly original, but really who cares when the guy can write a tunes like "Back To Life" or "If I"...two songs which belong on every Top 40 radio playlist in the country. There are a few points during
Remedy that remind me of VERTICAL HORIZON, LIFEHOUSE, and the Goo Goo Dolls. The more I listen, the more I am pleasently surprised with this release.
Let's just hope they have a second album in them.
