DAMNATION

In my never-humble opinion, Damnation is the record that will put OPETH on the map. Over the years I have kept up with all they have done and watched them grow into the band they are today. This is the second part of the album they did called Deliverance. The whole thing about this record is there are no dark and death metal contrasts. It goes in a more acoustical direction. You'll hear many other wild instruments they use to make it oh so different sounding. It is another one of those records you cant just praise one song or the other.

This is non-heavy stuff you death metal fans. They rely on the keys, other weirder instruments and more. They are great pieces of music they have sew together. Opeth have hit an Apex in their career and it is OK to hear them depart like this. The clean vocals are great.

"In My Time Of Need" has some real sweet moments. I can only think of The Moody Blues some Floyd when listening, maybe some Yes. They just made it work well and they have their very own style that many won't be able to duplicate. This is one of the better albums of the year in my book. This is the bands best effort to date and I think they know that. They took a big step and it is excellent to sit back and listen to as it all flows over you.
