I need to start off saying that I have a promo with an audio stamp on it so the songs are broken up with talk. I hate the steps labels are taking to prevent piracy these days. Some of the dopes who get sent promos just couldn't keep them off the internet, and fucked it up for the rest of us. Thanks. No, really. The little guy like me always gets the lower end of the deal.
Here we have CHIMAIRA back with a very fine effort even with the Audio stamp. They are billing the albums concept of being about he human condition. I can say that the band found more focus, became more heavy and wrote memorable heavy tracks. "Cleansation" is definitely an effective hard opener that plays into the more hyper "The Impossibility Of Reason", You fall! The vocals are definitely a lot stronger and the use of different force. They have a hard-core sound about them while being more extreme.
"Down Again" is gonna be the track to see this band breaking Fuse and MTV2 and radio, I'm sure! "Pure Hatred" is just what it says also, heavy duty. "Crawl" has more of a Crowbar feel about it and some more accessible sounds are heard. "Stigmurder" is another that crushes a little like Fear Factory and brutal stuff.
I am glad this band took it to another level. They almost sound European as you listen, don't they? "Overlooked" supplies more of the galloping thrash, while "Implements Of Destruction" has acoustics and keys that starts its sadder journey. It then grows into a very drawn out finale. A very kick ass second effort from this Cleveland pounder.
