I was hoping a new NEVERMORE record would come down the pike and it finally has. Since this came in the door I have been playing the crap out of it. How they keep outdoing each record previous is beyond me? I am really tripping over my feet about how great this record is. Who said American metal isn't good?
Listen to "Enemies Of Reality" as it opens up this meaty record. Right away you'll note a dirtier production. The soloing just starts to shred on this awesome track. Jeff Loomis is god, but I've uttered that plenty of times. "Ambivalent" supplies an off kilter time signatures. Warrel Dane's stamp is even broadening than ever. The great progression and perfection comes across on this album. You’ll hear more Morbid sounds in there. This record attacks like a Godzilla like thud. The soloing is also dizzying and that is in a good way. Bow down now to the guitarist!!!
"Never Purify" has great melody and everything is placed perfectly. Great lyrical content will be found here. "Tomorrow Turned Into Yesterday" is the one track that takes it down more mellow and sorta power ballad like road. This track becomes more memorable as it grows. Awesome vocal melodies you surely will hear. You are already beaten up pretty good then Nevermore unleashed their best song ever in "I, Voyager". This track made shot glasses fall from my wall and only few albums have done this. Wait to hear this awesome monster power riff in your face. I can’t say how much I love this song. The off timing and the soloing is sick! This sorta lifts a finger and nu-metal. The vocals are also a great point on that track. Kicks ass!
The pain doesn't stop there. "Create The Infinite" does tend to bash down at a different pace and is so effective. The riffs and the vocals fit so well. That song also shows some urgency. They take yet another turn with some effects helping "Who Decides" and then it proceeds to beat you up and then turn a bit more melodic and power ballad like. The acoustics rule and the songs grip you. "Noumenon" is where you hear ethnic strings and then it proceeds to trip out. Another awesome showing this bands original ability. This all sounds so much more doomed out. "Seed Awakening" goes out like a closer should. Straight up thrashing! Oh so sweet! Thee album of the year for sure! Get ready for the highest quality metal. The Metal album of the year! Did I say that twice?
