This CD comes out on tomorrow, just one day before the movie. I consider myself an old-school metalhead, but I can cope with a lot of the Nu metal acts that seem to be popping up. This Compilation is mostly made up of Nu metal bands and heavier music that really takes charge.
ILL NINO kicks some ass on "How Can I Live", which supplies cool percussion and melody. It no DOKKEN, and it's no "Dream Warriors", but the KILLSWITCH ENGAGE holds up well. SPINESHANK come along with "Beginning Of The End" from their new album. I seriously think they wrote a great song. That one rules!
MUSHROOMHEAD, HATEBREED, and SLIPKNOT round out the collection, and CHIMERA chime in with "Army Of Me". SEVENDUST show up sporting "Leech" and there's also a well-known POWERMAN 5000 song wrestling fans will know thrown in for good measure. MURDERDOLLS also offer up some quality as well.
Other cool highlights are SEPULTURA (with Mike Patton) on a song called "The Waste". The music gets painted a little more black when you get to the mighty underground band IN FLAMES doing "Trigger". LAMB OF GOD thrashes us down on "11th Hour" and the new TYPE O NEGATIVE "(We Were) Electrocute" from their latest record also is included.
They definitely came up with a cool mix for this movie soundtrack. Does Freddy win, or does Jason kick Freddy's ass? I have no idea; I haven't seen the movie yet. The soundtrack is definitely a killer though.
