TUG OF WAR
Another prog band tossed into the mix, yet this one surprisingly stays afloat due to the group's ability to pen some memorable
songs without the use of overblown musical arrangements of silly lyrics. I'm not a huge fan of the singer, Ted Leonard.
His voice is a bit too high-pitched and very reminiscent of YES vocalist Jon Anderson, one of the
most pathetic, and downright laughable 'singers' ever (Oh good, Marc..just piss off all the YES fans. That's really going to endear you to the prog rock-loving masses). But, I won't roast him just yet, because what he lacks in the gonads dept
he makes up on delivery, with every word delivered with the highest attention to detail and full of passion (something many singers
often lack). The instrumentation is top notch, and each player is given plenty of room to fully demonstrate their capabilities, without
the musical prog-rock masturbation sequences which usually send you running toward the Fast Forward button on the disc player.
Given that the climate right now for these sorts of bands is pretty glum, this shows that their is still hope for those who look for music
that now only challenges the mind, but moves the soul as well (that sounded gay, didn't it?).
