THE ART OF BALANCE
Am I dreaming? Are my ears deceiving me or is that totally old-school hardcore thrash metal emanating from my speakers?
YES!!!!
They play guitar solos, wait, better yet...They play REALLY GOOD guitar solos. This is a total throwback to the glory days of in-your-face thrash played by guys who not only know how to handle their instruments, but write some great hooks as well (which is fairly difficult in this musical genre). At times reminiscent of The Gathering era TESTAMENT, some old school SLAYER, a pinch of MEGADETH's technical flare and vocals that would make Phil Anselmo wince, this is winner from start to finish. I have missed this sort of thing for some time and have been fairly disappointed by the lame-assed attempts by some bands to return to their 'roots' (NO MENTIONS NECESSARY!!!!). My only gripe about this disc, is that at times it tends to be a bit too one-dimensional, and repetitive, but that is easily forgiven when your bashing yourself all over the room in a frantic attempt to relive your glory days of moshing and thrashing about like a madman, god knows I do......Um mom, sorry about the lamp.
