GROUP THERAPY
A little over a month ago, I was sent a
six song sampler of Group Therapy, and even though I was skeptical as to whether or not DOPE was going to be able to deliver after
frontman Edsel Dope replaced everyone in the band, I really dug the tunes on the disc. Obviously, when the full length disc showed up, those songs were still there, and so were a bunch of other great ones... and the thing I wasn't crazy about - the Jasmine St. Clair interludes between songs - has been left off the final version, which only makes it better.
The artwork on the insert is pretty bad ass, too. Then again, I tend to like aything with a lot of black and blood-red going on. Oh, and
I've gushed before, the video for "Bitch" is OUTSTANDING simply because of all the lesbians, bosoms, and naked ass...which is a key ingredient in the success of ANY rock video.
The band is actually doing more promotion for
Group Therapy (seemingly), which they're releasing on their own label, than was done for their last disc,
Life, which was released on Epic back in 2001. Hopefully this disc will meet with more success than the last one did, too... it certainly sounds like these guys worked their asses off on it.
