EVIL OR DIVINE
There is nothing like being up in the middle of the night, drunkered up to bejesus, and throwing in a RONNIE JAMES DIO concert video. Well, come to think of it, I could be having sex...with somebody... but who am I kidding? I'm older than dirt, and no one wants to play with my wrinkled old ass. So, to make up for the fact that I won't be getting any poon tonight (or any night), I'll just watch my new DIO video on my bashed-in DVD player.
Evil Or Divine was videotaped on Friday, December 13th, 2002 on a rainy-ass night in New York City at Roseland Ballroom. Hoo boy, I remember trying to sneak into that show too. I tried to sneak in backstage with the crew, and I would have made it too... but I introduced myself as Ronnie James Dio, and uhhh... well, security beat my ass good and threw me into a dumpster. I guess I look a little bit older and more banged up than Ronnie, which I didn't think was possible. Oh well, I got to hear the show from inside the dumpster, so that was almost as fun. Now that I have the DVD, it's like I never got my ass kicked!
Dio hits the stage with Doug Aldrich, Jimmy Bain, Simon Wright, and Scott Warren, and rips right into "Killing The Dragon" from the disc
Killing The Dragon, and the crowd goes insane (because they're all secretly afraid that the bony little man singing is actually the Grim Reaper, and if they don't clap feverishly, he's going to destroy them all).
Dio and his cronies blaze through a set of dio staples, like "Stand Up and Shout", "Holy Diver", "Last In Line", and of course, "Rainbow in the Dark". Even though he might look like the crypt keeper (as I do on many hazy nights), for an old coot, Dio's voice is still holding up. Also on this disc is the promo video for "Push" which features a guest appearance by none other than the TENACIOUS D guys in the intro. The video also features Ronnie looking like he's nursing a busted hip. OK, well maybe just a broken foot...but something's preventing my boy from moving around a whole lot.
STAND UP AND SHOOOOOUT!
