BOOZED, BROOZED & BROKEN-BONED
Hoo boy, if you're a leather-clad alcoholic outcast with a love for metal, and you need a place to go where you can be with family, then you need to get your big ass to a BLACK LABEL SOCIETY show.
Boozed Broozed & Broken-Boned shows us that chain-wearing, bearded, hillbilly, biker rock is alive and well. Or at least it was on September 14th, 2002 at Harpos in Detroit, which is where this show was filmed, "Live with the Detroit Chapter". This is probably the closest anyone has come to putting on the show I would put on if I had any singing ability, guitar chops, or songwriting skills. Brutal, fast, guitar-driven crunch metal that makes your nuts rattle with every kick drum hit.
For a big burly lumberjack-lookin' dude, Zakk Wylde really can shred on that bullseye Gibson Les Paul of his. He's gone from just being OZZY's guitar player to being a full-blown frontman with his own legion of knuckleheads following him around the globe like a big sweaty inbred mafia, all dressed in black.
I almost forgot (until I put the DVD into my bashed-in player that is) that Robert Trujillo was
playing bass with Zakk on this tour. It's always great watching my man Rob thump away like a gorilla on stage (Shh, don't tell that big furry fuck in the cage that I said that. He'll think I was talking about him, then he'll kick my ass for sure), hammering away at his bass, and swaying back and forth like a long-haired oompa loompa.
