ATTACK

I LOVE YNGWIE THE GUITARIST - I HATE YNGWIE THE SONGWRITER. This being the 17th album of his career, you would think he would catch on by now that the 'Dungeons and Dragons' themes are a bit dated. You would think he would find the time and write some songs that not only capture his amazing talent (I say this now - NO ONE CAN TOUCH YNGWIE WHEN IT COMES TO NEO-CLASSICAL GUITAR - NO ONE), but these songs are lame and almost comical, if you need further proof, just read/listen to 'Valhalla' and you'll get my point. What saves this disc from immediate destruction are the three instrumental tracks which are some of the best Yngwie has written and performed in years. Now if we could only get him to stop hiring singers, not write vocal based songs, and just do what you do best - SHUT UP AND PLAY YOUR GUITAR.
