TWICE SECOND
Imagine if IRON MAIDEN and SAVATAGE decided to drop their guitar tunings really low, adapted some serious grooves into their
songs and applied some really well crafted hooks into their music, you would get close to what SYMPHORCE are all about.
This being the second disc of their career, I am very surprised at the maturity and growth from their previous release, Phorceful Ahead. From the intense opening track 'Fallen' to the heavily Iron Maiden/Savatage influenced 'Tears', 'Whatever Hate Provides', 'Cause of Laughter', to the more stream-lined attack of 'In the Cold', this disc has alot of energy, anger, and muscle to keep your interest and after a while you will be hitting 'repeat' on your disc player.
The band is comprised of excellent musicians, but they rarely
demonstrate their abilities in order to showcase their chops for the sake of showcasing their chops. The interplay is solid and very groove oriented, though not very distinct (my only gripe), but lead singer Andy Franck, with his heavily Bruce Dickenson-influenced pipes delivers each line with clearity and force that it propels this disc from becoming just another faceless Euro-Power-Metal release and actually contains some truelly outstanding songs. One hell of a Heavy Metal CD and definitely worth checking out.
