GONE FOREVER

Another wonderful product from the wonderful Garden State, New Jersey (I love that place - I know, most people think I have a warped sense of reality for claiming this, but hey, it speaks home to me). Formed in New Brunswick, this 5 piece outfit can practically rip your head off with one chord and then proceed to pummel your lifeless corpse into dust. Extremely heavy, yet retaining a strong sense of groove (think CHIMAIRA, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE and LAMB OF GOD), GOD FORBID are on a stead-fast mission to bring METAL back to the mainstream, they focus on making each track really stand on it's own. Granted, some of the vocals sorely lack melody, and the hardcore edge makes them seem less metal than, say Slayer, God Forbid have begun to forge a sound all their own. Guitarists/brothers Dallas and Doc Coyle are a formidable guitar team that recall some early Megadeth/Testament/Priest comparisons, and their technical abilities will appeal greatly to those who actually appreciate good guitar playing. My only gripe would be - only 9 tracks and a bit one dimensional in the overall sound of the songs, but after a few listens, I still haven't put this one away, which says to me that this band is doing something right to keep my attention. I am sure they will be around for a long time to come and THANK GOD!!!!!
