WOW! HOT DAMN. FINALLY AN INDEPENDENT BAND GETS IT RIGHT.
Hailing from the Boston area, this simply has to be one of the best sounding discs I've heard from an independent artist. The production is simply prestine, the songwriting is extremely tight, and the delivery....forget it, these guys BELONG on the arena stages. Imagine Linkin Park meeting Filter with some SOUNDGARDEN BadMotorFinger-era style and you get the idea of what SECOND AUDIO PROGRAM sounds like. Like many of their contemporaries, they like to use the studio to their advantage, because this disc screams PRO-TOOLS and in a GOOD way. Their are immense sonic layers, crisp sounding drums and samples along with really well thought out arrangements, but the best thing about this EP are the S-O-N-G-S. That's right, the songs make this one of the best local bands I've heard in years. Granted they wear their influences on their sleeves at time but who really cares when they deliver the material with such intense emotion, perfect execution and a flare for some over-the-top energy that will make crowds bounce off the walls (AND GOD KNOWS WE NEED THAT RIGHT NOW!!!!).
The opening track "Alien Overdrive" has 'radio-smash' written all over it. "Give" follows suit with more subtle layers, but still massive punch in the mix. This disc is only 4 tracks deep, but each track is a winner and that is exactly what this EP is supposed to do...leave a lasting impression that begs for a full-length major-label backed release.
I only hope that the tone-deaf label execs hear what I hear and snatch these guys up as-soon-as-possible and put them were they belong...in the ARENAS!!!!
DAMN FINE JOB GUYS...YOU'VE MADE ME PROUD TO BE FROM BOSTON!!!
