If SOIL’s last release left you in awe and wanting more, then this is just what you’ve been waiting for. The same general sound as the last album, that infamous Soil crunch, with different lyrics. This is not a bad thing; to be honest I love the album.
There are 2 basic kinds of listeners out there. For arguments sake, we’ll call them Old Metallica Fans, and New Metallica Fans. Let me explain this now: Old Metallica Fans are the die hard fans that never want a band to change. They can put new lyrics into their music, and experiment ever so slightly with new sounds, but they don’t like drastic changes. New Metallica Fans are the kind of people that either just got into a band and love the sound, both new and old...or...the kind of people that like music for music and don’t nit pick if a band changes their sound every now and then. In general, this album is perfect for the Old Metallica Fans, although the new ones would love it as well. They didn’t re-record Scars, but they didn’t reinvent the wheel either.
"Pride", "Redefine", and "Love Hate Game" are probably the three strongest tracks, with "Cross My Heart", "Suffering", and "Deny Me" trailing not far behind.
All in all, Ryan and the boys did a great job on this CD and if you liked their last CD then you should definitely get off your ass and go get this one.
