FIRESTARTER (SINGLE)
The first thing you hear when you pop in GENE SIMMONS' cover of "Firestarter" is ...well, nothing terribly different from the original. Sure, it might be a tad more punchy (courtesy of production by the Overseer) and the guitars might crunch a little more thanks to Dave Navarro's presence on the track, but it doesn't deviate too much from the original PRODIGY track. Maybe that's just what Gene wanted for the first single from his upcoming disc,
Asshole.
Our own Sexbagel said it the best; he said "The music is cool, but it sounds like my Dad trying to sing a Prodigy song."
That about sums it up.
This single will get some exposure on some of the video channels, and the die hard KISS fans (myself included) will most likely buy it, but outside of that, I don't see this song doing much. I don't think Gene cares either.
